Politics and power – why ordinary people need to understand it and take a stand

Watch this great video from Eric Liu on the TED channel.

People need to stop thinking that politics doesn’t affect them, because it is exactly the opposite!

Because normal people don’t know or don’t understand politics, when the elections come, they will choose poorly for their country.

It is the same for example for European Elections, where countries like UK and France voted for extremist parties, just because they didn’t agree with their current local representatives.

People should fight more for their rights and should be closer to their communities. Because together, they CAN change things for the better.

The Wikipedia page on politics may be a bit long, but it contains a lot of useful information.

Remember, be yourself, but most of all, be good!

Scientist Sylvia Earle (TED Talk: My wish: Protect our oceans) has spent the past five decades exploring the seas. During that time, she’s witnessed a steep decline in ocean wildlife numbers — and a sharp incline in the number of ocean deadzones and oil drilling sites. An original documentary about Earle’s life and work premieres today on Netflix. Watch it here.
